Trial Lawyer Needed

A group of Spokane, Washington area citizens are in need of representation. We've recently communicated our needs with Mr. Spence but he couldn't take on a case with this complexity, nor could he provide a recommendation of who could take on this case.

Will the next Gerry Spence please step up? I realize that's a tall order but that's exactly what "We The People" need.

This case involves political corruption at the local, state and federal level. This case involves municipal bond fraud that was settled by the IRS but ignored by the DOJ. Are wealthy white collar criminals above the rule of law?

Two retired lawmen, a former Spokane mayor and other former city leaders are seeking justice. Justice in Spokane is difficult to come by when the perp happens to be the wealthy media empire known as the Cowles Company.

This could easily become a historical case that would open the flood gates to other instances in other communities where media and political corruption has all but destroyed democracy, equality and accountability in government.

Workshop in Charleston, SC in October

I have a trial coming up November 2. Not a big case but I need to do some work to prepare for it. Is anyone interested in getting together to work on this case. It is a property damage case involving a $45,000 Cadillac. Dealership hit an Army tanker truck doing $20k worth of damage. Client wanted a new car and insurance company forced them to have it repaired. Thanks.

Forensic Pathologist

Got a "Rodney King" case here in Atlanta where the police simply beat my client to death. He had done virtually nothing, but the police just went into a kind of frenzy, and as many as five officers were beating on him at the same time while he lay face down hands and feet handcuffed together. One large officer sitting on him the entire time (and beating him). Have over a half-dozen independent witnesses who all say he was not aggresive or combative toward the police at all, and all say the beating lasted a little over 15 continuous minutes. Lawsuit was filed here in Atlanta about two months ago, and we are in discovery.

Although the Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide, "cocaine use associated with blunt force trauma," he did not mention "excited delirum" which seems to be a junk science BS defense in police beating deaths. I expect the defense lawyers to go to this argument/defense, however, since it is about all they have.

I am clearly going to need a forensic pathologist as an expert. I know it will be expensive, but can't afford an extremely expensive one. Anybody know a forensic pathologist (hopefully) somewhere in the east or southeast) who they could suggest?

Annual Alumni Meeting

Our Annual Alumni Meeting will be in Texas again this year. We had a great turn out last year and it will be better this year.

Mark you calendars--November 13-15.   begin at 5:00 and go until about noon on 15th.

The cost for Alumni is $105.00. FWB members will pay $145.00

Look for the registration form on the listserve or email Betsy or me and we will email you one.

BTW, the place will be nicer this year, but we will not be cooking our own food.   Rafe did a great job last year, but we will try it this year without the distraction.

It is like someone telling you how great a movie is...then you see it and are let down.    Do not expect the food to be like we get at the Ranch. We won't be there to eat anyway. Let's work and have fun doing it.

I have spoken to several southeast tlcers about having a Carolina and surrounding states meeting. Several have requested a meeting possible in the month of October. I was thinking the 2nd or 4th weekend of October. But it really depends on when we can get the most people together. I think we have to especially plan this around Fredi's schedule. She has offered several times to assist in putting this together. Please post any ideas. Thanks

We will introduce new tools and sharpen familiar ones as we amplify and reﬁne the TLC Method. This Advanced Workshop is designed expressly for TLC Alumni and folks who have attended at least two (2) Regional

I am flying out to Portland May Day weekend to help Lee Berger with a vehicular homicide case. Lee is married to TLC alum KO Berger.

It will be his first experience working up a case with TLC methods.

Hello,

I just received a rather distressing call from a friend of mine who just bonded out of jail on a sex assault charge here in Colorado. He didn't give me alot of details about what happened or the basis for the charge, but it involves room-mate...she's not his girlfriend. And he also gave a statement to the police. He's in the Reserves and works as a civilian with the Reserves....so on top of everything else, he is very concerned about his job and career. He says he doesn't know what Tara said to the police.

Oh...this occurred in Ft Collins.....any takers?

McKinney (North Texas) Local Group rambling update

We started meeting in January and have had group meetings every month and more. While Rebecca and I host it at our office, it is the group's group. On the last Friday of each month, we have between 10-15 alumni consistently. Every member of the group has been a valuable gift. I'll be in Rapid City for the pdrama workshop this month, but the meeting will go on and I have no doubt that I will miss something valuable.

The "more" part of it, is that we can now see what we really knew, but didn't quite have the courage to use it as much with our cases as we should have been. Last week we worked with a client and her passenger on a criminal case and we are hoping for a "no bill" by the Grand Jury on Monday. I think we've worked with 5 clients since we began. One of the cool things is seeing how they benefit from the experience and appreciate our efforts.

Early on, we realized the importance of warming up. Although a group effort, we are trying to spread the responsibility of facilitating around so that everyone can gain the experience. The same thing with Directing...I hope to get others to jump in, or be encouraged, to direct knowing that the group will support them and the process. We try to have a so-called backup director to kind of watch and maybe help with little things. i.e. Sometimes, when we directors aren't really listening, we miss out on a good time for a soliloquy...or a good time for the lawyer to be, or feel, another role.

We've had about 3-4 non-TLC members that we've invited to join us and I think they will want to attend the Ranch or, at least, a Regional. Our invitations are selective.

This place, our place,- where we meet has been a long time hope and dream that finally became reality.

out of Delano, MN. A leading manufacture of playground equipment, including a turning bar that broke while my client was on it, leaving her a quad at the age of 19.

Anyone dealt with these folks or know of other cases involving their equipment, especially the turning bar or monkey bar.

I have talked to one non-TLC lawyer from TX who says they are A-holes. I have a current scaring case with them were one of their tire swings broke at the weld on the overhead bar and clunked my young client on the head. These D-bags would not even give me their DEC page, claiming they had plenty to cover "the little scar" and my clients forehead. The are still refusing to pay a dime and are making us put that into litigation.

Well I found out through a contract they had with the city of Seattle that they have at least $8M in insurance and guess what that is not going to cover jack-crap in my "turning bar" case.

Any insight or thought would be grately appreciated.
